This lecture is about A non-resident surcharge (NRS) increasing residential SDLT rates by 2% takes effect on 1 April 2021 and applies to non-resident companies buying a dwelling just as much as individuals. UK companies that pay UK corporation tax may still be non-resident for NRS purposes if shareholders live abroad. Although covered in detail in the February residential SDLT update, a brief outline needs to be given. The Covid pandemic has resulted in deals between landlords and tenants. SDLT on lease variations will also be reviewed.
